The Liquor and Gaming Amendment Act (WA) 2006 has introduced a requirement that all persons engaged in the sale, supply and service of alcohol must successfully complete a course in the Responsible Service of Alcohol approved by the Director of Liquor Licensing. To work as an employee or crowd controller in the liquor and hospitality industries and to serve alcohol in a pub, club, hotel, restaurant, or bottle shop, you must have completed a certified course in the ‘Responsible Service of Alcohol’.
This Western Australia RSA training course gives participants a solid understanding of the law, their responsibilities as servers and providers and the responsibilities of the venue.
On successful completion of this WA RSA course and assessment, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment in the unit of competency - Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol THHBFB09B which complies with the approval of the WA Director of Liquor Licensing for the purposes of the Liquor and Gaming Amendment Act (WA) 2006.
This course is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework.
For existing staff in Western Australia employed in the sale, service and supply of liquor prior to the implementation of the Act, transitional provisions allow twelve months for completion of mandatory training from the date of proclamation. Any new employees engaged in the sale, service and supply of liquor following the proclamation of the Act will have four weeks to complete the mandatory training.
